#9: Love at First Site

Wow, so some big news breaking this past week with SmugMug buying Flickr from Oath. Aaron and Michael start this week’s episode off by looking at some of the history of Flickr, and what the implications of the purchase are for users.

After that, we spend the episode looking at where we started in web development. From the tools and resources that were available, to how that impacts kids today looking into web development and how their experiences will and won’t mimic the experiences of the late ’90s and early ’00s. This episode extends some of the message from Codin’ 9-to-5, where we reviewed how you can find resources to help you start in a career as a web developer. It’s lightly seasoned with some of our own nostalgic anecdotes from the early days of the Read Only Web.
